The Future is Now: Implementing Meaningful Projects & Inquiries
At Saigon South International School, we have innovated our Elementary School curriculum into four “SuperUnits." During this presentation, I will share the innovative work and curriculum development that we have done. We will inquire into: What skills and dispositions will our students need in the future? What foundational knowledge will be necessary? How can we purposefully plan our units, inquiries, and projects? Current research around the future of jobs, technology, as well as the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals can help us. Come prepared for “think-tank like” discussions and to be inspired to begin implementing change for the future in your classrooms and schools.

Taking Service Learning to a Global Scale
Service Learning is always a key component of a school’s curriculum. Juan Pablo began his own service project giving back to his community in Jocotenango, Guatemala; when he began tutoring children out of his parents’ garage. A passion/service project has now evolved into a full-on accredited school with a self-sustaining campus.

Join CNN Hero Juan Pablo Romero Fuentes, as he shares how he empowers the student body to create their own initiatives that sustain their school and teach entrepreneurial skills.   Learn how ‘Los Patojos’ run their own bakery, travel agency, agriculture program and performing arts studio.  Learn how Juan Pablo has made global connections by bringing his students to the forefront and at the same time, creating future global contributors who are inspired to change the world.

Participants in this workshop will learn strategies to begin service initiatives in their own schools as well as learn great ways to give those projects voice. They will also learn how to interact with Juan Pablo’s school’s programs and get involved in his charitable foundation.
