The 21st Century Learning Conference is an annual event in Hong Kong where teachers, staff, and school leaders come together to learn, share and discuss current & emerging topics in education with thought leaders, technology, and learning experts, and their peers. With over 650 attendees from 33 countries, it is the event of choice for a diverse international audience. The event blends together inspirational keynotes, practitioner-led workshop sessions, and fun networking opportunities.

As IDEA Lab Coordinator to one of the first Makerspaces in a Middle School in the United States, I have a unique insight of the challenges as well as the rewards of having such a space. We have regularly scheduled IDEA classes in the Makerspace area and, in addition,  we collaborate with teachers in special projects outside of these regular times. I can provide ideas on how to start a makerspace on different budgets and for schools with a wide variety of needs. I will also be attending the conference as a regular attendee.
